Guidelines for those applying for membership of The Gay Caravan &
Camping Club
• The prime function of the G.C.C. club is to provide the opportunity for a social meeting point for lesbians and gay men who follow their hobby in camping. Whether this is in a caravan, tent or motorhome, they know they can relax in the company of like-minded people.
• The G.C.C. club is non political, does not promote religious beliefs or faiths, and has no ethnic exclusions.
• New members should be aware that generally speaking the G.C.C.club, meets on sites that are used by other members of the public. These sites by their very nature are predominately heterosexual family orientated. Members and guests of members are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that will not cause offence, or bring the club into disrepute.
• Whilst on site, any offensive behaviour, as deemed by site wardens/owners or other G.C.C. club members will not be accepted and those members offending will be asked by the meet host or club chair, to conduct themselves in such a way as not to draw attention to themselves or the club. Persistent offenders WILL have their membership withdrawn.
• The success of the club is its informal approach to its meets. All the club meets are run by the members for the members. Any member may hold a meet at a time and place of their choice, providing they inform the club chair so that he/she can advise all other members via our newsletter known as Groundsheet.
• Membership fees are non refundable and payable annually in February/March. Currently membership costs £15 per unit per year, and will be reviewed from time to time. A unit is the caravan, tent or motorhome and primary member, plus partner where applicable. Friends of the primary member, or partner, are welcome on meets, upon acceptance of general guidelines and at the discretion of the meet host and club chair.
• The club welcomes members with
children. The club also expects parents / carers to take responsibility
for the children with regard to their presence and participation in
club events and toward other members. Club events and get togethers
after 8pm are strictly adults only (18+).
• Awning meet social gatherings
(evening) Meet hosts and members generally are advised to end awning
gatherings at 11pm, depending on local conditions, in order
to avoid complaints of late night noise. Other site users have to
be considered.
The good reputation of the club is of paramount importance.
